Career

Oviya's acting career began by playing supporting roles in movies. In the 2007 Malayalam film "Kangaroo," she made her acting debut as "Susanna."

She later performed in movies like "Apoorva (2008)" and "Puthiya Mukham" (2009). In 2009, she made her Tamil film debut as "Aishwarya" in the movie "Naalai Namadhe." When the director Sargunam offered her the lead role of "Maheshwari" in the Tamil film "Kalavani" in 2010, she was studying her graduation.

She gained widespread recognition after the movie. She then agreed to star in other low-budget movies like "Amara," "Vengai," "Mugham Ni Agham Naan," and "Muthukku Muthagga," but only a select few had a theatrical release. She made her Kannada cinema debut in 2011's "Kirataka," as "Nethra," in the movie.

She began giving priority to her activities in Tamil cinema. After 2014, her acting career started to decrease. She made her Bollywood debut in 2015 with the movie "Yeh Ishq Sarfira," in which she portrayed "Riya."



She took part in the reality TV competition "Bigg Boss Tamil" in 2017. Oviya became instantly well-known thanks to the programme, although she eventually left it due to health issues.

She was cast in various movies after the show, including "Muni 4: Kanchana 3," "Oviyavai Vitta Yaru," "Kalavani 2," "Raja Bheema," and "Black Coffee." Her acting career then took a turn for the better.

Controversies

On the reality television programme Bigg Boss Tamil, Oviya allegedly attempted suicide by drowning herself. This made headlines in 2017. (Season 1). The actress reportedly took this extreme action because Aarav, another competitor on the show, rejected her love proposal and made fun of it. She was so distraught by this that she ended her life.
